good-morning-0v.jpgGood Morning!

Good morning! How are you today? I hope you had fun last Tuesday and you are looking forward to continue working on your wikispace! My 2 years old daughter is sick so I have to stay at home, but please make sure to post something on your page so I can see it at home and give you some feedback!
Here you have more information about your presentation and you lesson plan:

PRESENTATIONS:
  • Time for presentation: Appr. 5-7 minutes. Plus 5 more minutes for questions to the group. Try not to go below or exceed this time limits so everyone has time to present their work and we don´t have to take any time from your lunch hour J.
  • Try to present what you have created in a different way. Don´t read just direct from the wikispace! Remember that we all have access to your page. Try to explain why did you choose those reasons to visit Gothenburg, why do you think that they are interesting.

LESSON PLAN:
  • Week 9:
Lesson 2: Work in groups.
  • Week 10:
Lesson 1: Work in groups.Lesson 2: Your page should be ready and you should start thinking about how your presentation is going to be.

  • Week 11:
Lesson 1: Work in groups and final touch to your presentations.
Lesson 2: Presentations (March 13)

REMEMBER!!!!
  • To interact with each other in English:

When it comes to interaction and production students should: be able to process oral and written production and interaction of various kinds, also in more formal settings, where students instruct, narrate, summarize, explain, comment, assess, give reasons for their opinions, discuss and argue.
  • It is important that everyone takes part in your group page. We have access to everyone’s post, what you write, what you delete, … so we can see the whole process. That it is why we are using WIKISPACE!!! So please if you haven´t written anything yet, do it now before is too late!!!!!

  • Be creative! It is going to be much fun if you show us your own pictures or videos when you do your presentation.

Instructions

We are going to make this wikispace about Gothenburg in which we are going to give as many reasons as possible to visit this great city. Your group is going to choose randomly a paper where you will be assigned the area that you are going to work with: What to see? What to do? What to eat? Where to stay? How to get around? Nightlife and Employment/Education (on technic areas).
Once you have received the area you are going to work with, go to our wikispace and create your page in “Pages and Files”. Next, you can start working!
Here are a few tips:
What to see?
Sightseeing (city center, museums, gardens, parks, archipelago, guided tours)

What to do?
  • Attractions and events:
    • What is happening in 2014 (exhibitions, music, sports,)
    • There are festivals, fairs and market that happen every year)
  • Activities (relaxing ex. spas, adventures ex. An amusement park, family activities)
  • Shopping

What to eat?
What is typical of Gothenburg? Is there any food that the tourist must try? Good relation quality-prices? Michelin-star restaurants? Cafes? Take away? International cuisine?

Where to stay?
  • Different prices and accommodations
  • Different tourist (couples, families with kids, with pets…)

How to get around?
What way is the best to get around Gothenburg? If you are in the city center, where most things are within walking distance, maybe the best way is on foot. But, what other options can you find? Tram, bus or taxi? Maybe renting a bike? Try to find information on bike renting, tickets / cards on the bus & tram (vasttrafik.se). Have you any other tips?

Nightlife
What to do after sunset? Find out places to party nightclubs and pubs, cinemas or maybe sightseeing that it is better to do under the moonlight.

Employment / Education (technology)
If you wish to stay in Gothenburg for a longer time, perhaps to study or work, what are the options? As you are studying at the school´s technology branch, we thought it could be interesting to find out more about it. Try to look for big companies that offer these kinds of jobs and education opportunities, Universities, etc.

THINK ABOUT:

  • The language: The wikispace we are building is open to the public and many people are going to read it. That is why it is so important to use a more formal language, no slang or unnecessary abbreviations, etc. It is also important that you work as a team and if you have any doubts, ask the others for advice. Why not asking everyone in your group to read through what you have written before posting it? For more information on how to use language when you write you should have a look at the assessment criteria posted on Schoolsoft.

  • Variety in general:For example, if you are looking for accommodations, try to find different types; you can post anything from expensive and fashionable hotels to cheap places as hostels or campsites, and maybe any free places to sleep. It is also important what kind of people are visiting Gothenburg, different ages, families, couples, if they are adventurous or maybe they like to do something more relaxing. Another example of variety could be the gay public if you are writing about the nightlife in Gothenburg: any famous pub or club for the gay tourist?

  • You are allowed to post in any kind of format you want. Look for videos and pictures on Internet, or feel free to create your own material, why not taking the pictures yourself or recording your own video?

  • Working in a group. The group should be able to work even though some of the members are absent so why not using an open document (ex: google docs, titan pad).

  • Assessment:

    • In class: remember to interact with each other in English!
    • Digitally: It is important that everyone takes part in your group page. We have access to everyone’s post, what you write, what you delete, … so we can see the whole process.
    • Presentation: Everyone should take an active part in the oral presentation. Nothing needs to be handed in to us. Patricia will asses the group and Teresa the individual part.

Good luck!
